Gin Barrel Deseret

BEER STYLE / STATS:
Belgian Tripel / 9.3% ABV, 30 IBU, 5 SRM

INGREDIENTS:
Belgian Pilsner malt, Solstice Pilsner malt, Candi Sugar, Aromatic malt, Saaz hops, Belgian yeast

DESCRIPTION:
With roots in the Belgian Trappist beer tradition, only beer brewed by a protected and certified order of abbey monks may be called Trappist. Tripels, like most Belgian style beers, gain their predominant flavors from warmer fermentations with Belgian yeasts. You can expect complex notes of orange citrus, spice, and floral hops. While over 9%ABV our Tripel is easy to drink despite its complexity and strength. Our take on this classic abbey-style beer has a clean, dry finish and is the perfect beer for pairing with almost any meal.

HISTORY:
Originally popularized by the Trappist monastery at Westmalle. The name tripel was generally used for the strongest beer in a monastery’s repertoire. The story goes that barrels were traditionally marked with X’s to signify strength, so three X’s would be for that abbey’s Tripel.
