Märzen/Oktoberfest / 5.6% ABV, 20 IBU, 8 SRM
INGREDIENTS:
Floor Malted Munich malt, Pilsner malt, Vienna malt, Melanoidin malt, Cara Bohemian, Tradition hops, German Lager yeast.
DESCRIPTION:
Premium German ingredients in this namesake of the Oktoberfest celebration, gives the Marzen its beautiful amber color and rich malty backbone that makes it so easy to drink. A bigger version of our Festbier, the malty palate and finish do not seem sweet, but balanced with just the right amount of hops. The color and malty complexity make this a fall favorite for many looking to start out the Autumn season with some festive beer activities.
HISTORY:
As the name suggests, brewed as a stronger “March beer” in March and lagered in cold caves over the summer. Early versions were dark brown, and in Austria the name implied a strength band (14 °P) rather than a style. The German amber lager version (in the Viennese style of the time) was first served at Oktoberfest in 1872, a tradition that lasted until 1990 when the golden Festbier was adopted as the standard festival beer.
PREFERRED GLASSWARE:
Pilsner Glass, Tumbler Pint, or Dimpled Stein
