Mole Porter - Draft

Mole Porter
BEER STYLE/STATS:
English Porter with Spices / 5% ABV, 25 IBU, 26 SRM

INGREDIENTS:
Maris Otter malt, Brown malt, Chocolate malt, Black Patent malt, Cara Munich III malt, Warrior hops, Kent Golding hops, English Ale yeast. With cacao, cinnamon, and Chipotle Peppers.

DESCRIPTION:
Following up on the success of last year’s Mole Porter, we decided to brew a draft strength version of this English style porter, with spices reminiscent of Mexican Mole sauce. Mole (or Americanized “Molé”) comes from an old Nahuati word for “mix”, or “sauce”, because there can be a lot of ingredients in mole dishes. The basic, Chipotle peppers, cinnamon, and cacao, pairs well with the coffee and dark chocolate character of an English porter, so we threw them together for a rich and complex beer that stays surprisingly drinkable. This is a one of a kind beer that is great for Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, Thanksgiving, and all through the holidays.

HISTORY:
Originating in London around 300 years ago porters became a highly-popular, widely-exported style in the 1800s. The name is said to have been derived from its popularity with the London working class performing various load-carrying tasks of the day.
